The Cosy Homes Charitable Trust (CHT) understands the importance the community places on the preservation of confidentiality of individuals’ private and/or sensitive information. As a result, CHT is bound by, and fully committed to supporting, the Privacy Principles as set out in the Privacy Act 2020.
Purpose:
To establish guidelines that control how CHT should treat personal and/or sensitive information they collect, use, handle or store.
Procedures:
Personal information collected from our website, fundraising, service providers, client referrals or otherwise, will be held securely by Cosy Homes Charitable Trust (of 10 George Street, Dunedin 9016). The information will only be used for the primary purpose for which it was collected. CHT will not sell, or exchange, or release, personal information about an individual for commercial gain.
In accordance with the legislation, CHT takes reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information it collects, uses or discloses is accurate, complete and up-to-date. CHT also takes reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes keeping information safe by storing it in password protected and/or encrypted files and only allowing appropriate staff access to the information. If you have received financial assistance from CHT, your information may be disclosed to our funders in order to document expenditure of funds for authorised purposes.
If there is a breach of privacy involving your personal information, we will comply with any legal obligations under the Privacy Act.
